A Simple Guide to Gaining Visibility Through Content
You already have the tools. You already know what to say. You just need a guide to show you how to share it—consistently, with confidence, and in a way that attracts the right people to your brand.
#1. Use the Tech You Already Have
“I want to post but I’m not tech-savvy. What equipment do I need?”
You don’t need new gear to start showing up online. Your existing tech is more than adequate.
Video:
Use your smartphone with a basic lavalier mic like this one. Position yourself in front of a window for great lighting.
Audio:
Record using Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet and simple wired earbuds like these. Make sure you're in a quiet space.
Text posts:
Use transcripts, your phone’s dictation, or voice memos. Drop the raw content into ChatGPT and ask for a summary or LinkedIn post.
#2. Attract people who align with your brand
“What if I say the wrong thing?”
Your content isn’t meant for everyone—and that’s the point. The goal is to attract people who resonate with your values, voice, and vision—and to naturally turn away those who don’t.
As Patrick Hanlon writes in Primal Branding, those who disagree with your message are simply nonbelievers. You’re not here for them. You’re here for the people who share your beliefs and are ready for what you offer. When you lead with alignment, you build stronger relationships and attract better-fit clients.
what about editing?
If you want to clean up a few repeated takes, tools like Descript make editing fast and simple.
#3. Follow a Sustainable Plan
“What format should I choose? What should I talk about?”
Follow a plan you can maintain. Here's how to create sustainable content:
Topic:
Start by writing down a list of topics you already discuss with your clients, prospects, and partners.
Format:
Find what format works best for you. One of the best formats for busy people is a podcast—it takes less time to set up than video, and it’s more personable than a text post.
Length:
Your content should be long enough to provide valuable insight to your audience but not so long that it bores them. Depending on the audience, this could range anywhere from 60 seconds to 60 minutes!
Platform:
LinkedIn—people are there to do business, not scroll mindlessly looking for entertainment like on other platforms. If you already do some business development via LinkedIn, building your presence on the platform will help you build trust and improve conversion rates!
Posting Schedule:
The best time to post is during a consistent 30–60-minute window you can schedule into your calendar. The first hour after you post is known as “the golden hour” on LinkedIn. Publish your post, then engage by commenting on other people’s posts—many will likely check out yours in return. Then log out and don’t return until the next day. No joke—LinkedIn boosts your post to lure you back into the app.
#4. Build Trust and Grow ROI
“What if I don’t get results?”
To see a real return on your content, focus on what works:
Elevate quality where possible
Clean audio, clear visuals, and a bit of personality go a long way—you can create great content with affordable tools.
Schedule time in your calendar
Showing up regularly builds trust and keeps your audience engaged, even if you release content monthly because that’s what works for you.
Lead with value
Build connection by offering insights, stories, and solutions before you sell. A strong 5-to-1 ratio of value to promotion helps your audience stay interested and invested.
Include a clear call to action
Make it easy for people to take the next step. Whether it’s visiting your website, booking a call, or exploring your services, give them a path forward.
Stay aligned with your niche
Speak directly to the people you want to attract. When your content reflects your brand’s focus, you’ll draw in the right clients and opportunities.
